During the summer of 2012 I worked as an intern at ADX Portland. ADX stands for Art, Design, Portland (playing off of Portland's airport code: PDX). They are a membership-based community of makers and builders who share tools, knowledge, and experience. ADX boasts a 24,000-square foot custom fabrication shop, complete with woodworking, metalworking, and fabrication capabilities, among so much more. They allow anyone to bring their ideas to life.
FREE EVENT POSTER SERIES
One of my main duties while interning at ADX was to create posters to advertise all of their free, community events. I wanted to evoke the feel of vintage operation manuals and aimed for the series to carry a handmade feel. I also meticulously crafted each vector illustration myself.
FIRST FRIDAY MAP
The most high profile project I took on as an ADX intern was a map of all galleries and open houses in SE Portland open on First Fridays. It was updated monthly, printed and distributed to all participating locations for people to grab and find new places to visit. The QR code on the back leads to an interactive, online version.
